The members of Cork Boat Club wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of the late Jack Buckley. Jack was an active member right until the end. A common figure at The National Rowing Championships, Jack was delighted to present Cork Boat Club with this years 2008 Intermediate Pairs Championship. A familiar figure at the annual dinner dance, Jack would always start the night by saying grace. This year Jack even sang an old favourite of his, The Galloping Major, backed by The MacSweeny band. As a junior 16 oarsman back in the 90's, I can remember Jack standing outside his driveway from time to time and shouting "Come on Boat Club" as we ran past his house on our 4 mile run.
A life member of Cork Boat Club, Jack always attended the AGM of Cork Boat Club and played an active part this year when he participated in a vote in relation to the proposed Cork Boat Club development. Jack is a big loss to the club but he will always be remembered. May he rest in peace.
