Just to let you know that the two girls that Alfie Young is coaching in Sydney just made the Aussie team for the Olympics in Beijing after a gruelling 10 days of trials.

One of the girls made it in by 0.8 of a second.

Their names are Amy Ives and Zoe Uphill and they will compete in the W4X.

Alfies name had been thrown around to coach the W2x at the Beijing Olympics but the fact that he's not a resident would have got in the way so it didn't happen.

Great to see a Cork Boat Club coach being thought of at that level...especially as he nears his 40th birthday.
