Hi Dan,

My name is Romay and I went on to the Cork Boat Club web site today and have to say it brought back a lot of memories to me and a few tears to my eyes as well!!!!! My maiden is O'Sullivan and my Dad was the late Sonny O'Sullivan who rowed with Cork Boat Club and later went on to be Captain and in my youth I can remenber him training Denis Mac, David DeLapp, Keitch and Hughsey. We went all over the country to Regattas, they were the only crew in the club at the time. But is was a great time it was the early seventies and have to admit that I had a crush on one of the crew.....I was only 13 or 14 but wont tell you which one it was!!! It was lovely to see my Dad in your old Photos it certainly made me very proud to see him and if he were alive today I think he would be honoured to be on the NET!! I grew up meeting people such as Max Hogan, Bill Leader, Alan McBeth, Ted Boohig, and they were such gentlemen, you dont meet men like them today. I have an old photo of CBC Maidens 1952 winners of the Goff Challange Shield Waterford Regatta(maiden eights) & civic cup, Metropolitan Regatta, Dublin (maiden fours) when my Dad was captain.

My two neices also row with Cork Boat Club Niamh and Kate Parfrey. My Dad used to say rowing was not for women, they would get too many muscles!! I wonder what he would think if he saw the club today ? I live in Wexford and my two sons row with our local rowing club, one of them has taken part in the All Ireland Coastal Rowing Championships for the past three years, I know it's a different type of rowing but is still very strenuous and they can row in pretty rough conditions, it must be in the genes!!

I just wanted to thank you for the Web site really enjoyed looking through it, and I salute all those who are no longer with us, they are missed.

Regards,

Romay
